The whole way in which commercial vehicles are being used is changing, with the emphasis being on cost-effectiveness. LightBody is not a cheap alternative body, its strength lies in long-term savings. Increased payloads, reduced fuel consumption, and maybe lighter GVW chassis are the future of commercial road transport. Also, we are designing multi-use bodies, which will mean one vehicle doing two or more jobs. An example is for local authorities, and plant watering. These bodies can have a water tank as a subframe, meaning it is a standard dropside body above. So one 3.5ton truck can do watering in the morning, then gardening later, without swapping vehicles or returning to base.
As well as weight savings of up to 30%, these fully welded bodies are strong, hygenic, futuristic in looks, and recyclable. We are designing and building bodies which provide solutions that otherwise cannot be achieved.

Among the customers who are already benefiting is Adrian at Adeyfreight. He had a body built elsewhere, and was very disappointed with the payload. His LightBody box gives him a much increased payload, as well as a body which is a great advert for his business, as his website shows.

To give an idea of the benfits of the LightBody design, a local operator had a GRP box, which fully loaded weighed 3940KG - on a 3.5ton chassis! We built a LightBody luton, with the extra cubic capacity, which weighed 3460KG with the same load, allowing him to run legally, and with peace of mind.
21/05/09. The photos below show a plastic panel PPE drying cabinet, and a fully sealed tray for chemical containers. These give an indication of how versatile this product is, and hopefully will spark thoughts on some possible uses. Solid plastic panels can also be formed and welded to these honeycomb panels, allowing us to make shelves, cupboards etc, to weld direct to the body sides. This means no food/dust traps, no brackets, just easy wipe, and minimum weight.
21/10/09. We now have a new company, established to design and build the LightBody range, hence LightBody Structures Ltd. This company is a partnership, the two partners being myself, Mark Collishaw, and Chris Rollinson. Chris is Director of Servatruc Ltd, and brings to this venture a wealth of business skills and experience.
Since the last report, LightBody is getting better known, and synonymous with plastic vehicle bodies, as well as other plastic structures.
11/09. We have just built the black body in the pictures, based on a Mercedes Sprinter 4x4, which is being operated by Alistair and Joy Hansen, of Hisco, in Leeds (0113 2362200). This has a removable roof, to allow Alistair to load large steam cleaners.
03/10. Orders have been placed for two more lawnmower carriers, two clinical waste carriers, two Lutons to move library books and two covered tippers.
This Lightbody has been developed with local authorities in mind. Firstly, weighing just 400kg, it gives a payload of 1400kg on its Ford Transt chassis. This body, designed and built exclusively by NBC Vehicle Solutions Ltd, is available as a complete vehicle from Sandicliffe, our local Ford dealer. Speak to John Daykin for more information.
The base body is a light but very secure platform, which is designed to carry lawnmowers weighing up to 1000KG. It has lashing rings, and under-floor storage boxes as standard.
The bodies in the photos have various options, including gantry, centre board, powered tailgate and front cage storage. All these bodies are supplied fully painted in one solid colour of your choice.
